Isolation Route — Abstracting Alone

The isolation route abstracts you for being too far from other players for too long. It is the most thematic route in the game — and the one that catches the most players by accident.

How isolation works

The game continuously evaluates your distance to other normal players. Stay beyond the crowd for a sustained period and the distortion begins to build. There is no published radius or timer — but in practice, if you cannot see anyone else, you are isolated.

Using it on purpose

  1. Check where the server population is concentrated — usually the main spawn area.
  2. Walk to the far edge of the map, away from all foot traffic.
  3. Stay put. Wandering can accidentally bring you back into someone's range and reset your progress.
  4. Watch the distortion build until you turn.
Speed it up: pick an isolated spot that is also dark — you'll satisfy the darkness route simultaneously, and the fastest abstractions come from stacking both.

Getting isolated by accident

This route is why fleeing is so dangerous. When an abstracted player scatters a group, everyone who runs off in their own direction is suddenly alone. Add a dark hallway and you have satisfied two conditions mid-panic. If you are trying to survive, retreating with at least one other player is non-negotiable — see the survival guide.
